Who Is Louis Vuitton?
Louis Vuitton, born in France, had humble beginnings.
He started his career in the fashion industry as a simple box-making apprentice.
Yup, making boxes. Crazy.
But being a driven person, Louis quickly became one of the best box-makers in Paris.
This led him to become the personal box-maker and packer for the Empress of France, Eugenie de Montijo, who was the wife of Napoleon III.
This esteemed appointment immediately elevated Vuitton’s status and helped him secure other wealthy French clients.
One thing led to another and Louis Vuitton went on to found his own company in 1854 opening his first store in Paris.
His big breakthrough came with his introduction of flat-topped trunks, which were completely different from the traditional dome-shaped trunks in that time.
His flat-topped trunks were stackable, stronger, and much more practical for travel, which made them an instant hit among travelers in that period.
Louis Vuitton continued to innovate and expand his product line, introducing new materials, designs, and patterns, including the famous LV logo monogram, which is of course the trademark today.
Today, the Louis Vuitton company is a fashion icon with annual revenue of nearly $10 billion according to Zippia.com.
