Your Email Marketing Strategy Outline
If your goal is to become a highly successful internet marketer you’re going to have to embrace email marketing. It’s without question the single most lucrative way to make consistent money online.
In fact, the most successful internet marketers make more money from their email list than any other source. Including me.
Even if you’re new to internet marketing it’s best to get started immediately, even before you think you’re ready, rather than putting it off until you get a solid footing in your niche.
Why?
Because building your email list from day one will shorten your learning curve and accelerate your income generation online. I’ve personally had many internet marketers tell me that their biggest regret by far was not building their email list from the very beginning. Please don’t make the same mistake.
Are You Too Busy For Email Marketing?
You may be thinking that you simply don’t have enough time to incorporate email marketing into your business. Time is too short already right?
If you’re like most marketers you probably aren’t getting your daily to-do list done now so how can you possibly add more to it?
Take out a pad of paper or open up a word document and make a list of all the activities that fill your day right now. List everything from building your website to setting up social media profiles to answering emails.
Everything.
Now take a look at your list and circle all of the activities that actually make you money every time you do them. I mean, how many of those tasks are adding money to your bottom line?
Do you get paid for answering an email? Do you get paid for every post you place on your website? Are you getting paid for planning?
I’m sure you’ve heard of the pareto principle which states that roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. It’s also called the 80/20 Rule and means that only 20% of your daily tasks results in 80% of your income.
Make no mistake about it… in the internet world, email marketing is and should be the largest part of that 80%! If you’re doing it right you’ll make more money from your list than any other single source or any other activity that fills your day.
Here’s a fact that may surprise you: email marketing delivers a return of 4,300% and is more cost-effective than any other form of marketing.
Convinced? Excellent. I’ve put together a 4 part lesson on how to get started with your own email marketing campaigns.
Not convinced? If you’re not incorporating email marketing into your online business strategy you’re leaving a mountain of money on the table. Since email marketing delivers such a high return (4,300%) on your investment, it’s more cost effective than other forms of marketing, and frees up your time so you can get back to running your business. And consumers love it.
Consider for a moment that:
- Since email marketing is automated with easy-to-use software it takes only minutes per day to use
- Email marketing is a powerful communication tool for building relationships with customers
- It gives you a chance to speak to a lot of people at once and even expand your reach
- It allows you to stay connected with loyal customers and on-the-fence prospects who otherwise may have never interacted with your brand again
- Email allows you to demonstrate your expertise in your niche, connect with people, develop their trust, and present the value of your business and products to them
- Most people prefer to communicate with brands through their inbox
How about more email marketing analytics:
- 74% of consumers prefer to receive commercial communications via email
- 138% more is spent by consumers who receive email offers than those who don’t
- 66% of consumers have made a purchase online as a result of an email marketing message
The Most Common Email Marketing Excuse
“But my business is different; it won’t work in my niche”. This is the most common excuse in not following through on something you need to do and is also is the bane of marketing legend Dan Kennedy:
Unfortunately, most business owners behave as if Amish: mentally staying in their own little box, suspicious of the outside world. – Dan Kennedy
Email marketing works for any niche and for any business either online or offline (brick and mortar). It works for single-person businesses as well as it works for huge Fortune 500 companies. You don’t have to have a large list either.
Email marketing, if done properly, works well for both small and large lists and in many cases there are advantages for having a smaller list.
Email Marketing Tips:
Once you have your email marketing machine up and running you’re going to need some tips to help you build your list and start making money as quickly as possible.
Email Frequency How often should you email you list? This is probably the most common question and one without a clear answer. The answer really depends upon several factors including your relationship with your list, the niche you’re in, the amount of content to share, and the offers you plan to recommend to them. Some marketers suggest you send at least one email to your list every single day. For me, that’s too much since I don’t want to email my list to death. But for others it’s perfect. You simply decide what’s best for you and your relationship with your list.
Email Subject Lines Subject lines determine how many people open and consume your content. In fact, studies show that 33% percent of email recipients open their email based on the subject line alone. Test, split-test, and test some more. Pay attention to your open rates since they’re so important. Your subject lines should be brief, concise, and attention-getting. Give them a good compelling reason to open your email. There are many techniques to do just that which I won’t get into here since it will take too long. Simply Google “best email subject lines” and you’ll find plenty of free content in which to get ideas.
Your Personality Be yourself and come across like you’re speaking with your friends in a social setting. Keep it real with them so they don’t feel like just another name on your list. Some marketers prefer personalizing each email to the name on your list – which can be done automatically with your email marketing software. Hi “_______”, just wanted to… I prefer keeping it less personal but the choice is entirely up to you.
Email Segmentation Segmentation is breaking your list into smaller sub-lists based on interest. Just like personalization your email marketing software will help you automate this. An example would be if you’re in the car niche and had some really cool information on Corvettes. An email segmentation campaign would help you identify and isolate the people on your list who want more information on Corvettes while the other people won’t get bombarded with Vette-stuff and offers they don’t want.
Call-To-Action Calls to actions are vital to email marketing because ultimately the purpose is to get them to buy from you. Get used to generating calls-to-action in every email to get them conditioned to clicking through for more information or an offer. Link your calls-to-action at least twice per email. Usually once in the middle and once at the end of your message. That will increase your click-throughs. Keep your emails as short and concise as possible so them don’t click away bored before the call-to-action is delivered.
Visual Aids Using graphics, pictures, and logos is a great way to grab attention in emails since very few people do it. You have mere seconds to capture your readers attention so give yourself any chance to do so. If I’m linking to a video for them to watch (my call-to-action) I’ll add a snippet of the video as an image with a Play Icon > right on the image so it appears as though they could click it and watch the video right from my email. But instead it will link to the actual video.
Social Shares You have the option to add social share buttons to your emails if you would like. This works especially well for email newsletter type content. Like several of the elements listed above your email marketing software will allow you to set this up in your dashboard. There you have it.
Email marketing is your golden ticket to ‘printing money’ literally on demand. When you have a responsive list and send an offer to them a percentage of them will almost always buy so all you have to do is provide awesome content, give them what they want, and ask them to buy from you! Write emails, click send, and get paid. Rinse and repeat.
If you haven’t done so go get started. It’s easy.
The truth is that in affiliate marketing it takes the same amount of time & energy to promote a product or service that pays you $500.00 than it does to promote a product that only pays you $29.00. Doesn’t it make sense to get paid more money for doing the same amount of work? Let me teach you how to sell high ticket products and services for high paying commissions.
